Mark Slater – Founder, Managing Partner

Mark Slater is Founder and Managing partner of Boston Capital Advisors . Mark was previously Vice President of Business Development at a GE funded ASP, Bullhorn, Inc.

Mark’s principal professional development occurred while a Senior Business Development Analyst in the owner operated businesses of CMGi, Inc. where he helped to operationalize a carrier class access network supporting more than 1 million subscribers in 12 months and to lead its efforts to project its assets worldwide. Additionally, Mark worked to discover inter-divisional efficiencies with other owner operated entities of CMGi such as Engage Technologies, Alta Vista, NaviSite, Dialpad, @Ventures, Saleslink, and CMGion. Prior to CMGi, Mark served as a Financial Analyst for the Transnational Group, one of the largest private affinity marketing companies in the US.

Mark is a British Citizen, and spent his childhood in London, graduating from Marlborough College prior to Boston University where he double-majored in history and finance. He serves on the Board of First International Corporation, a global project finance organization responsible for $4 billion in financings in the Maritime and Aerospace industries and also serves on the Advisory Board of Karmaloop LLC. David Frederick – Founder, General Partner

David Frederick is also a co-founder and General Partner of Boston Capital Advisors. He brings a unique combination of fourteen years of experience as an attorney in both private practice and as in-house corporate counsel.

Prior to BCA, Dave was a Senior Corporate Attorney and Business Development Director for NaviPath, Inc., a majority-owned subsidiary of CMGi, Inc. While at NaviPath, Dave was an integral member of the team which built a private label Internet services business that provided communications infrastructure for Fortune 500 companies. In his role he coordinated with the executive, product management and engineering teams on business development issues, contract terms and conditions for the growth and sale of NaviPath’s network and technology services. At NaviPath, Dave’s accomplishments also included coordination of all aspects of preparing the company for IPO, structuring and negotiating a strategic private placement round and completion of numerous customer and partner alliances.

Dave received his J. D. cum laude from Syracuse University College of Law where he was a member of the Moot Court Board and Justinian Honorary Society. Dave also has a Masters of Environmental Science. He completed his undergraduate studies at Purdue University.

Matthew Hillery – Managing Director

Matthew Hillery is a Managing Director at Boston Capital Advisors, LLC covering Internet software, e-commerce and IT services sectors. Previously, Matt was founder and President of Solid Sense Systems an IT professional services firm specialized in content management. After six years of steady growth, the firm was sold to a strategic buyer in the New England market.

Matt´s active career in the software industry over the past 15 years includes extensive experience as a software developer in the embedded systems and smart building automation industry. At Andover Controls Corporation he quickly moved up the ranks to manage the company´s industrial automation product line. Following his time at Andover Controls, he worked for several years at MFS Investment Management providing technical consulting and leadership to custom application development, single source publishing and strategic new technology teams. His combination of technology and executive management experience provide an in-depth backdrop to the value he brings to Boston Capital Advisors´ clients.

Matt is extremely active in the New England entrepreneurial community. He has served on the board of directors at the Smaller Business Administration of New England and works closely with the SBANE Educational Committee and the Massachusetts Technology Development Corporation. Matt received his B.S. in business from the University of Vermont.
